THE MASQUERADE, A SPELLBINDING SOIRÉE
An Evening of Shadows, Spells, and Shared Delight
We are excited to share our latest table in the Seasons Art de la Table series, a monthly celebration where thoughtful design, seasonal ingredients, and elevated ambiance come together. For October, we embraced a mood both playful and magical, inspired by masquerade parties, enchanted botanicals, and the quiet theatricality of autumn evenings.
A Magical Mood Rooted In Autumnal Remedies
Visualise a table set for a potion maker, a true herbologist with dried blooms, withering petals and where glimmering glasses awaits to be filled with a crimson wine, just like a storybook. The palette was rich and unexpected. Rosewood, pinks, earthy greens and cream with subtle nods to a masquerade.
Each element was carefully chosen to feel both enchanting and elemental from playful porcelain to textured glassware, from hand-picked flowers to ingredients that feel gathered and foraged. A touch of Halloween whimsy without the cliché.
Setting the Scene: Table Décor and Ambience
Inspired by our curated mood board of whimsical prints, vintage silhouettes, and natural textures, the table came together as a space to gather, nibble, sip, and share stories.
• Layered Foundations – A terracotta-toned jacquard tablecloth with florals and vines provided a rich base, inspired by the colours of falling leaves and fading gardens.
• Playful Porcelain – Iconic face plates by Anna + Nina added a dose of theatrical charm, for our guests to enjoy the evenings masquerade
• Whimsical Sips – Rose-pink glassware and goblets from Sharland England brought a vintage, dreamlike elegance to the table.
• Eclectic Details – Bamboo-handled cutlery played into the theme of imperfection mixed in with the dreamy heavy handed arrangement of candles at the centre of the table.
• Floral Alchemy – Dried wildflowers and herbs were arranged loosely in bundles, echoing the idea of gathering and spell-making. Little signs of magic scattered across the table.

Pickled cucumber, spiced nuts, and dark olives
Cured meats, rustic crackers, and seeded breads
Tiny dishes of chutneys and jams, and pickled ttSweet Ending: Banana Bread with Chocolate Chips
A warm, familiar favourite! Banana bread dotted with rich chocolate chips. Sliced thick and served simply, it was the kind of dessert that invites seconds (and thirds). Comforting, nostalgic, and just a little decadent.
